Rear Seat Braces
Chassis stiffening
The question continually comes up of how to improve the chassis stiffness and
reduce rattles & squeeks of a '78-'88 G-body. GM figured out that extra bracing helped
long ago, but waited until the final years to install one of the most effective
bracings.
This is a rear seat of an '87 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe1 which has additional diagonal bracing that other g-body models
did not have. From observation, some '87 & all '88 Monte Carlo and most all '81 - '87
Grand Prix got these and the Regal and Cutlass models were completely absent these
braces, with the exception of the '87 limited production GNX.

And to add to the mystery of "what did these come in?", here's a photo of Mike Xavier's '82 Grand
